Design & Research

Our expert team can work with you on a commission basis to scope, strategise and conduct research that generates unique insights to inform and inspire solutions that cater to your organisation’s needs. Whether you are exploring a problem, scoping opportunities, developing an idea, or executing a strategy, our team brings qualitative design-led approaches that prioritise the inclusion and empowerment of diverse stakeholders.

Knowledge Exchange

We collaborate with various types of organisations, including government, business, third sector organisations, academic institutions and local communities, to share insights for complex challenges we face as together as a society. As both a consultancy and academic research lab, we strive to facilitate knowledge co-creation and knowledge exchange that is inclusive, accessible, and beneficial for all.

Whether it’s a one-day workshop or a long-term partnership, here are the different ways we can collaborate with you.

Student Projects (In Curriculum)

Collaborate with our global community of students by sponsoring a design project through one of our courses at the University of the Arts London. This provides you a diverse yet safe environment for experimentation to address your organisation’s challenges. We work with you to scope the engagement with students and support them in bringing you design expertise that is grounded in academic theory and tested for real-world applicability.

Graduate Consultancy (Extra Curricular)

Our community of design students and graduates can be employed by us to collaborate with you on achieving your organisation’s goals. During these engagements, typically one or two graduates or students will work with you while being guided by our team of experts. In this way, you get to leverage a fresh perspective on the problems you are trying to solve, while benefiting from the expertise of our experienced team.

Bespoke Consultancy

On top of the above ways of collaborating with us, our team of experts can also work with you in more customised engagement that may be more suited to your organisation’s unique challenges and opportunities.

If we’re going to be successful we need to engage as many people and organisations as possible. We certainly need to harness the energy and enthusiasm of young people. So working with LCC was quite natural. – Cllr Helen Dennis, Cabinet Member, Climate Emergency & Sustainable Development, Council of Southwark

Service Design Training

Service design methods can empower your team to comprehend the complexities of their current situations, imagine alternative scenarios, uncover desires from diverse stakeholders, and iteratively prototype possible solutions. Such approaches foster a culture of empathy, creativity, and innovation within your teams, driving business success and elevating the quality of your services, whether they are internal or external.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are interconnected concepts that recognises and value the diversity of people’s identities, experiences, perspectives, and abilities. Our team of experts bring a unique combination of service design, creative collaboration methods, and bottom-up approaches, to co-design EDI action plans, roadmaps and strategies with you. These maps aim to foster more inclusive environments in your organisation, so that everyone can thrive and contribute.

Enabling Change

Change initiatives are challenging in almost all types of organisations, whether public or private sector. Resistance to change, such as people not being committed or convinced, is a natural response in human systems that can be understood and managed effectively through design-led techniques. Our team can facilitate workshops using storytelling, visualisation skills, and empathy-building methods to provide more ways for your teams to have conversations about change. Co-design and participatory design approaches then allow these conversations around change to be realised.

Customised training programmes

We also offer bespoke training to help teams and communities become more resilient in a complex and changing world through creativity, making, and play. We prioritise co-design approaches that are meant to not only upskill teams, but to also deliver a mindset shift toward more responsive, ethical and human-centered ways of working.

Whether this training takes place over one day or a series of sessions over a long term, our workshops can be adapted to the specific needs of your business and tailored to suit the size of groups taking part.
