Purpose
A series of community events to support cross-pollination between UAL student communities and local communities.
Process
Service Futures Lab run a series of community events, engaging 250 local residents and 40 UAL students.
The events were organised and delivered by young UAL creatives from across disciplines. Events included two open garden parties in which we shared food, danced to live music, painted 50 planters and planted 50 trees of local species to increase biodiversity.
Impact
The project gave UAL student communities a stronger sense of belonging and connection with their local communities, and the confidence to continue collaborating with local organisations. Local residents got to know better their neighbours and local area, the power of creative practice and got to plant a tree.
PNK Garden increased local biodiversity, and has now successfully planted 100 trees locally.
